Faithful in Major Decisions

Due to circumstances beyond my control, I found myself as a single mom with three children. I love my children with all my heart, but I felt a void for a husband. I was almost immediately reminded of a verse found in Isaiah 54:5, "For your Maker is your husband, The Lord of hosts is His name; And your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel; He is called the God of the whole earth." (NKJV)

WOW! If You, God, are going to be my Husband, I'd like to discuss what I want in a husband if You see fit to give me one again. So God and I had a heart to heart talk. I started with a blank sheet of paper. Cute. Yes, I wanted my husband to be good looking so I could stand next to him. Since I was depending on God to be the One leading my life fully going forward, then I needed to have some one who loved God first and trusted Him, too. Preference was for a widower with children (having three children of my own, he needed to know what it is like to have children in the house), one who is willing to care for his Mother (because I live closest to my Mother and will have to be available to her), must be a prayer warrior and believe in the power of prayer, and like to travel (I like to "go").

On the back of this card I put Psalm 37:23, "The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way." (NKJV) I prayed for every single man that crossed my path. Example would be if "Jim" crossed my path, "I would pray, Lord, may You delight in the steps of "Jim" as he delights in You." This would keep them at a distance so I could wait for the Lord to lead me to "Mr. Right." I prayed 7 1/2 years before God put my husband in front of me.

More to come on this story . . . . God is Always Faithful!
