Jeremiah 33:3 says, Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.
Everyday most of us have our cell phones in our hands. We are looking at it more hours than we really believe, and we even have applications to tell us how much time we’ve been on the cell phone.
We use it to get information from friends and family. Now we get the “latest, greatest” news from sources we don’t even know. Some sources seek to rally our emotions to make us “want” more. Other sources send us “pop-ups” with items to buy, pictures seemingly out of nowhere, articles to read related to something you might have skimmed by in the past twenty-four hours, and videos of dogs, cats, and babies coming at you from every direction.
Can you really be interested in all these things? Are any of them worth your time and energy? Do they edify your day or bring to you anger and disgust and feeling lower than you started? Are they “Truths” for your life?
We don’t “lose service” as much as in years past, or at least the cell phone companies want us to believe their service has the most coverage nationwide. (Or most coverage internationally — I must admit I was pleasantly pleased when I sent a message one morning recently to a friend who is across the seas 8044 miles from me, as the crow flies, and she answered almost instantly!)
Instead of “loosing service” these days, the Internet response times are competitive. If they slow down, we might get upset thinking we should have instant connections all the time.
What would your life be like if you always had connection to the most important information and could get up-to-the-moment news and service? Well, God’s phone number is always available. His number is Jeremiah 33:3. He says, Call to me. This means to Stop. Connect to God. Call to Him. Ask Him to answer you. He is ready and waiting for your every word and every desire to be heard. He already knows what you want and need because He created you. He wants to overwhelm you with His Presence, His Touch, His Power, His Sovereignty, His Faithfulness, His Goodness, and His Love.
He knows what is happening with you, your family and your friends. He cares about every detail in their lives as well as your life (1 Peter 5:7). He will answer when you call. His line is always open. He wants to help you make your appointments for the day. He has a plan ready for you and knows the best plans for you (Jeremiah 29:11-14). He is already connected to the entire world. He is the Creator of the universe. His children are spread out in almost every country on this earth. He knows where you need to go and why you need to be there. He longs, deeply desires, for each of us to call on Him all day long. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 says, Pray without ceasing. That means to be always in an attitude of prayer. In other words, be aware of God’s connection to you every moment of every day. THEN as His “phone number” says, I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.
Whew! I’m so grateful I’m connected to the King of Kings, and He is connected to me!
